Plan a Wedding at raystown.org
Have you always dreamed of a fantastic destination wedding? Or maybe you and your mate share a love for the outdoors. The Raystown Lake Region has hosted some of the most unique and memorable weddings imaginable, as well as many more traditional nuptial ceremonies. That destination you have been dreaming about for your wedding is just A MOMENT AWAY!
With over 130,000 acres of public lands, the Raystown Lake Region can provide some spectacular outdoor ceremony, reception and/or photography venues. There are beaches, historic sites, scenic overlooks, tour boats, caves, golf courses, costume festivals, trolleys, steam railroads, and more that can serve as a creative and beautiful backdrop for your wedding ceremony or photographs.
Recently a couple that frequented Rennaissance Faires was married in period garb in front of a castle at Mayfest of Huntingdon. The Lake Raystown Resort Lodge and Conference Center has indoor and outdoor venues all with spectacular views, allowing it to host multiple weddings at the same time without one interfering with another. The Resort’s Proud Mary Showboat and Seven Points Marina’s Raystown Princess are both available for charter for wedding ceremonies or receptions on the water of beautiful Raystown Lake. The picnic areas, amphitheatre, and scenic overlooks within the Raystown Lake Recreation Area can be reserved through the Army Corps of Engineers.
If the weather in The Alleghenies scares you away from an outdoor wedding, then Huntingdon County has some great indoor venues as well. There are hundreds of churches, synagogues, mosques, and chapels in the region of nearly every faith. The Historic Clifton Theater has even been used for the occasional wedding ceremony. For a truly unique and intimate wedding go under ground at Indian Caverns, Lincoln Caverns or Penn’s Cave.
There are dozens of places in the Raystown Lake Region for indoor or outdoor wedding receptions. This website can also direct you to some fantastic photographers, videographers, bridal shops, tuxedo rentals, caterers, entertainment, gift registry sites, accommodations for the happy couple and guests, and more.
To get a marriage license in Pennsylvania, you can apply at any county courthouse, regardless of which county you plan to be married in, or reside.
As you browse Raystown.org to plan your wedding, you can create your own wedding itinerary to share with your spouse-to-be, wedding party, and anyone else you choose to.
