Visit Hauntingdon: Pennsylvania’s Ghoulest Small Town
HUNTINGDON, PA: The Great Pumpkin is descending on the Coolest Small Town in Pennsylvania with his army of ghouls, ghosts, goblins, monsters, munchkins, and more to take over Huntingdon, PA for the last three weeks of October! In an official press release from “The Office of His Hauntedness, the Great Pumpkin,” the community takeover was announced and the transformation began to create HAUNTingdon, Pennsylvania’s Ghoulest Small Town!
The Great Pumpkin has recruited the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce and area businesses to lead his minions in this transformation. The Chamber, along with the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau, is inviting ghost hunters, shoppers, costumed characters, and the curious to view the transformation for themselves by visiting Hauntingdon during the many activities happening this month for people of all ages.
Hauntingdon highlights include two great festivals, walking and haunted house tours, story telling, interactive arts and crafts, a costume parade, late-night movies, and even costumed yoga! In addition, some Hauntingdon area merchants, manufacturers, and artists have developed commemorative Hauntingdon merchandise, including a Scared-ey Cat Spice candle from Thompson’s Candle Company, Hauntingdon Blend Tea from Abigail’s at the HUB, and Hauntingdon’s Ghoulest Stained Glass Bats – 2009 Collector’s Edition: “Foster” from Vintage Art Glass and local stained glass artist Leah Davis Dell.
The celebration of Hauntingdon as the Ghoulest Small Town in Pennsylvania, is presented by the Huntingdon Area Promotions and Activities Committee of the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce. Hauntingdon events are sponsored by Lake Raystown Resort, Lodge & Conference Center; Ghosts & Goblins at Lincoln Caverns; Moon Shadow Harp Therapy; and Grove’s Office Supply.
Located 30 miles south of State College, and within 4 hours drive of Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Washington, DC, Huntingdon, PA was voted by readers of Budget Travel Magazine as number 5 on its readers’ choice list of the Coolest Small Towns in America for 2009.
