Fall is upon the Raystown Lake Region and with it comes beautiful fall foliage, family-friendly events, your favorite seasonal flavors. If you detest the cold weather and snow, it’s also your last chance to explore the great outdoors before you cozy up by the fireplace for the winter. The Raystown Lake Region is just as beautiful in the fall as it is the summer and there may be even more reasons to visit!

Places to Stay! 

Wake up surrounded by the red, orange and yellow fall colors you love. With plenty of lodging options to choose from here are some that put you right in the middle of some incredible views for the fall foliage. At Airydale Retreat you can rent a glamping dome or tent. Both provide for an enhanced camping experience. The Guest Houses at the Inn at Solvang also provide deluxe stays in an incredible outdoor space! You can also head out in the woods for a more private stay at one of four cabins at Warrior Ridge Hideaway. Just near the center of Raystown Lake you’ll find the Sweet Getaway in Entriken. It’s a charming and spacious A-frame on wooded grounds with a walk around deck, a fire ring and an outdoor seating area.

Things to do this fall in the Raystown Lake Region!

We know you’re spending some time binge watching your favorite fall TV shows and movies! But here are some things you can do to get off the couch and out explore the Raystown Lake Region. Lake Raystown Resort offers fall cruises on the Proud Mary Showboat so you can see the breathtaking fall foliage from out on Raystown Lake. You can also ride aboard a historic steam train at the East Broad Top Railroad through their Pumpkin Patch Express, which are taking place on select weekends in October. At the station you can also enjoy their pumpkin patch and decorating, hay bale rides, mini-golf, a bounce house, a costume contest, food trucks and so much more! 

 

If you’re a Halloween fanatic then don’t forget to stop by Lincoln Caverns for one of their Ghosts & Goblins Evening Terror Tours! You’ll get the opportunity to explore the haunted caves, trail and hayride. Fall festivals are a must when it comes to the season and it’s not different in the Raystown Lake Region. Octoberfest will be taking place in downtown Huntingdon with businesses highlighting beer, cider and all your favorite seasonal offerings.

 

Things to try! Fall flavors edition

Pumpkin spice, apple cider, and soups of all flavors! You know and love the classic combinations of fall! Here are some places you’ve got to visit to get a taste of their fall favorites. Studebaker House and Standing Stone Coffee Company both have menus that change with the season so you’ll need to stop by in the fall to get a taste before it’s gone! Brackenridge Ice Cream & Coffee along with Downtown Joe are some of the go to spots for those warm cups of coffee you’ll need to start your morning. The autumnal season wouldn’t be complete without a soup or home cooked meal. The Village Tavern, located in the Mill Creek area, has you covered with their delicious offerings that will please everyone at the table. Especially the soup fanatics.

The Great Outdoors!

Arguably the best time to take part in any of your favorite outdoor recreation is the fall season! Plus you’ve gotta take a breather and see the colors of fall. Scenic overlooks make for the best photo opportunities! From biking the Allegrippis Trails to paddling down the Juniata River there is plenty to do for all you outdoor enthusiasts. One stop you should make is to hike up the Thousands Steps during peak fall foliage to get an incredible view of the Allegheny Mountains.
