The Raystown Lake Region is a destination spot that will satisfy everyone in your group. With a variety of places to see and things to do, planning your trip in advance is a good idea. We’re here to give you all the resources you need to plan the best vacation yet!
Places to Stay
Does your family own a camper or do you prefer to stay in a tent? Not interested in the outdoors and prefer to stay in a short term rental cabin or house? The Raystown Lake Region has them all! The Raystown Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates Susquehannock and Seven Points Campgrounds with some waterfront sites on Raystown Lake. Among them you can camp by tent or RV. On the southern end of the lake, the Lake Raystown Resort has the only waterfront cabin and bungalow rentals available at the lake. They book up quickly during the summer time, just one of the reasons planning ahead is not a bad idea. You will find numerous vacation rentals in the region and we want to make sure you find the perfect one with ease. No matter how big of a group you plan to travel with there are places for you all to stay together, like Lane's Pine Lodge, which sleeps 20, or Crown Jewel Vista, which accommodates 20. If a smaller home is all you need, we can help you find those too! Riverside Retreat and Elder's Rest both sleep 4.
Places to Eat
The Raystown Lake Region is home to many local restaurants that you will not find anywhere else, all worth a try. If you're staying at the Lake Raystown Resort, a delectable meal is seconds away. The Marina Cafe, located on the property, offers old time favorites with a view overlooking the marina. Around the back of the same building, Best Way Pizza offers family-friendly dining with fresh pizza, sandwiches and ice cream.
In town of Huntingdon you'll find Three Twelve Kitchen and Cocktails, offering casual and fine dining in an upscale contemporary atmosphere. For a more laid-back experience, Boxer's Café is a local favorite known for its creative menu, extensive craft beer selection and options for both meat lovers and vegetarians.
Coffee enthusiasts will find plenty of reasons to linger in the region as well. The Grind offers specialty coffee drinks, baked goods and a cozy atmosphere perfect for starting your day or taking a midday break. Standing Stone Coffee Company roasts its own coffee and serves a variety of handcrafted beverages alongside breakfast and lunch favorites.
Places to Go
If you’re visiting the Raystown Lake Region there is one place you must go, Raystown Lake. There are abundant opportunities to take advantage of here. You can go swimming at the Seven Points Beach Area, have a picnic on the water's edge, rent a boat for the day from the Seven Points Marina, visit the many overlooks of the lake, rent kayaks for the day from Rothrock Outfitters or take a public cruise on the Proud Mary Showboat. Whether you want to be in the water or not, there are numerous ways to spend your time. Home to the Allegrippis Trail System, mountain bikers can spend all day on the 36-mile trail. Prefer to walk? There are numerous walking trails at Raystown Lake, Greenwood Furnace State Park, Trough Creek State Park and Rothrock State Forest that have unbelievable scenery. If you're looking to go out for the day, Raystown Lake Region is home to Lincoln Caverns & Whisper Rocks, a kid-friendly adventure beneath the earth. The East Broad Top Railroad is another must see gem. This National Historic Landmark allows you to ride the train through scenic countryside, enjoy immersive guided tours and trolley rides with the Rockhill Trolley Museum. If the weather changes and you need a plan for the rain, Downtown Huntingdon is home to many local small businesses who would love a visit from you. Stop at Thompson's Candles Gift Shop to go home with new delightful aromas to fill your home.Or maybe a drink from Juniata Brewing Company is more what you're after.
