Plan Your Visit

The Raystown Lake Region is a destination spot that will satisfy everyone in your group. With a variety of places to see and things to do, planning your trip in advance is a good idea. We’re here to give you all the resources you need to plan the best vacation yet!

Places to Stay

Does your family own a camper or do you prefer to stay in a tent? Not interested in the outdoors and prefer to stay in a short term rental cabin or house? The Raystown Lake Region has them all! The Raystown Lake United States Army Corporation operates Raystown Lake Susquehannock Campground and Raystown Lake Seven Points Campground  with some waterfront sites on Raystown Lake. Among them you can camp by tent or RV. On the southern end of the lake the Lake Raystown Resort Rentals has the only waterfront cabin and bungalow rentals available at the lake. They book up quickly during the summer time, one of the reasons planning ahead is not a bad idea. In the region you will find numerous vacation rentals and we want to make sure you find the perfect one with ease. No matter how big of a group you plan to travel with there are places for you all to stay together like the Bella Vista Lodge that sleeps 26, Chocolate Moose Chalet that holds 22, or the Crown Jewel Vista that accommodates 20. If a smaller home is all you need we can help you find those too. Riverside Retreat sleeps 4 and the Fairfield Farm Guest Cabin holds 5.

Places to Eat

The Raystown Lake Region is home to many local restaurants that you will not find anywhere else, all worth a try. If you're staying at the Lake Raystown Resort, a delectable meal is seconds away. The Marina Cafe located on the resort offers old time favorites with a view overlooking the marina. In the town of Huntingdon you can find Muddy Run Tavern, who offers a variety of menu items to satisfy even the pickiest eater of your group. Just down the street you can find Three Twelve Kitchen and Cocktails offering casual and fine dining in an upscale contemporary atmosphere. A small unique restaurant located beside the Huntingdon Cinema, Lil New York, will wow your taste buds with their Latin and Greek Cuisine.

Places to Go

If you’re visiting the Raystown Lake Region there is one place you must go, Raystown Lake. There are abundant opportunities to take advantage of here. You can go swimming at the Seven Points Beach Area, have a picnic on the water's edge, rent a boat for the day from the Lake Raystown Resort, visit the many overlooks of the lake, or rent kayaks for the day from Rothrock Outfitters. Whether you want to be in the water or not, there are numerous ways to spend your time. Home to the Allegrippis Trails, mountain bikers can spend all day on the 36-mile trail. Prefer to walk? There are numerous walking trails at Raystown Lake, Greenwood Furnace State Park, and Rothrock State Forest that have unbelievable scenery. If you're looking to go out for the day, Raystown Lake Region is home to  Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks, a kid friendly adventure of two crystal caverns may be the place to stop. The East Broad Top Railroad is another must see gem. This National Historic landmark allows you to ride the train through scenic countryside, enjoy immersive guided tours, and trolley rides with the Rockhill Trolley Museum. If the weather changes and you need a plan for the rain, Downtown Huntingdon is home to many local small businesses who would love a visit from you. Stop at Thompson's Candles Gift Shop to go home with new delightful aromas to fill your home. While downtown, make sure to reward yourself with a beverage from Downtown Joe or Standing Stone Coffee Company for a locally brewed coffee. Maybe a drink from  Juniata Brewing Company, Defiant Distillery, or Reklaimed Vines is more what you're after. You can find those close by too.
